Beer Description

Brewed as true to a real Czech Pilsner as we can in Durham. The water was softened, the 100% Saaz hops imported from Czechoslovakia, the malt was true Pilsen style, the yeast Bavarian in nature, even the brewers changed names to Laco and Svec while brewing this lager. A true fine Pils style beer, crystal clear, lightly golden colored and sparing no expense to use noble Saaz hops from start to finish. This is the “Beer of Kings” and the archetype of all the commercial lagers before being watered down to modern day levels. The neighborhood around Ramseur Street off of Fayetteville/Elizabeth Streets was purchased by William Pratt in the 1830s. The area became known as Pratt or Prattsburgh and was a sort of “den of iniquity” back then. In one citation, Pratt was noted for, “…drinking, tippling, playing at cards and other unlawful games, cursing, screaming, quarreling, and otherwise misbehaving themselves.”
