Beer Description
This melomel (mead with fruit), is a semi-sweet strong mead. Frolicking Fig uses figs from Kim Raymond and Carolina BrewMasters member Mark Graham as well as honey from Carolina BrewMasters member Tony Gerik. Full bodied and smooth, this mead’s aroma layers figs, light toast and a touch of spice from the dark wildflower honey before trailing into a substantial warming alcoholic sweetness. The flavor starts with the caramelized figs, which brings to mind a rich holiday confection, then fades into the subtle spice and complexity of the honey. This mead makes a wonderful aperitif instead of brandy, cognac or port due to its complex structure and warm finish.
