Beer Description
“Rhode Island Red” in color, in honor of the unofficial state mascot – the RI Red Rooster.
On 11/11/11 the world will officially Celebrate Newport Storm ’11 – a beer designed by all of Rhode Island’s Brewers, brewed together by all of RI’s Brewers and built out of as many Rhode Island ingredients as will fit in a liter bottle. The ’11 is: It was hopped with Magnum for 65 minutes (the precise length of time of the slow Block Island ferry). It was then dry-hopped with Ocean State Hops for 35 minutes (the precise length of time of the fast Block Island ferry). It was then aged in RI Thomas Tew rum barrels, and bottle-conditioned with Aquidneck Honey as priming sugar. Lastly, the sweat of all of RI’s brewers was involved, but thankfully, not an ingredient.
