Beer Description
Foedre-aged Marzen Lager
At once an ode to German brewing traditions of yore, and a bastard of new American conceptualization. In 1500s Bavaria, brewing was forbidden between late April and late September. Marzens were then brewed in March to last through this dead period. We tweaked some rules and brewed this lager in February to give extended time in the crypt – an American Oak foudre where it rested after primary fermentation for more than a month. Brewed with Deer Creek Malt from Glen Mills, PA and carbonated naturally. This lightly sweet, gently bitter lagerbier is worthy of extended contemplation.
