Beer Description
Autumn-gold, bone-dry, tannic, savory, vinous, and lightly effervescent, Lost Orchard Dry Cider represents the mission of Tilted Shed Ciderworks: to elevate the apple to greatness. Reminiscent of Old World ciders, particularly those from West Country and Normandy, Lost Orchard also has its own distinct character that reflects the nuances of Sonoma County’s climate and soil, as well as our love of acidity and tannin.
Lost Orchard Dry Cider is a blend of several traditional cider and heirloom apple varieties organically grown in local “lost orchards” that were planted decades ago with high hopes but nearly forgotten since. Bittersweets (high tannin, high acidity) and bittersharps (high tannin, low acidity), including Nehou, Muscat de Bernay, Porter’s Perfection, Tremlett’s Bitter, and Kingston Black, provide excellent structure, pronounced acidity, and a touch of bitterness on the finish that is softened by the light effervesence.
