Beer Description
The result is a remarkable blend of rustic flavors and textures: barrel-derived tannins, woody, nutty(toasted almonds) malt nuances, dried tart cherry fruit.
As the name implies, this is a rustic red ale. Agrestic has a long lineage of oak-barrel influence: First, as DBA, it is fermented in our legendary Union Barrel Fermentation system. If that isnโt exciting enough, it is then transferred to a tank and inoculated with a proprietary lactobacillus-thus beginning the Agrestic transformation. Then, it is racked into barrels where it is inoculated with Brettanomyces Lambicus. This foundation of DBA with microflora is made more complex through 14 months of maturation in American and French Oak barrels (40%/60% ratio). The result is a remarkable blend of rustic flavors and textures: barrel-derived tannins, woody, nutty(toasted almonds) malt nuances, dried tart cherry fruit, thirst quenching acidity, and a hint of vanilla and all-spice in the background. A thoroughly enjoyable beverage!
