Beer Description

Ever since 2007 the brewers at Duvel Moortgat have been busy innovating with a third hop variety (besides their standard Saaz and Styrian Golding) to give Duvel a surprising twist and some extra bitterness. Like Duvel Tripel Hop Citra (2016), Duvel Tripel Hop Cashmere (abv 9.5%) has become a permanent part of their line.

The ‘Cashmere’ hop is the product of crossing a female ‘Cascade’ hop plant with a male ‘Northern Brewer’ hop plant. Beer sommeliers have for some time been calling this variety a ‘rising star’ and it is a highly sought-after newcomer in the beer world.

Besides adding the usual hops during the cooking process, extra hop cones are added in the lagering stage (“dry hopping”). This intensifies and refines the hop aromas in the finished beer. In Duvel Tripel Hop Cashmere, the typical Duvel flavor profile is enhanced with notes of citrus, peach, melon, and coconut.
