Beer Description
Winner of the 2014 Northampton Jazz Festival Home Brewer’s Challenge ~
A refreshing German Hefeweizen in classic form. The wheat malt (“Weizen”) used in this brew contains considerably more protein than barley malts which contributes to the distinctive golden-orange haze. Also contributing, and the real star of this beer, is the suspension of yeast (“Hefe”). The classic German yeast strain used was manipulated toward more ester production through higher fermentation temperatures resulting in a distinctive banana nose. The sweetness of malt and bananas continues through taste with a slight tart/sour touch at finish.
