Beer Description
Cardena is a Belgian Abbey ale.
This is the third beer in the Hulks Series named for the decommissioned vessels that make up the floating breakwater in Powell River.
Each Hulk has a unique history, so Cédric wanted to make a unique beer for each one. As he is Belgian, he naturally chose to brew styles from his homeland for the series.
Contrary to the name, this style of beer refers to anything brewed in a ’similar style’ to those brewed in the monasteries of Belgium. Trappiste ale refers to a beer brewed by Monks, Abbey ale refers to a beer brewed by a brewery that may or may not have ties to a religion but is trying to mimic the Trappiste alesEach Hulk also features ‘Artist’s Series’ labels: artwork created by different local Powell River artists. Cardena features the artwork of Powell River artist Anna May Bennett.
