Beer Description

We were lucky enough to have our friends Bellwoods Brewery from Toronto, Canada stop by the brewery recently. So we thought we’d brew what we brew best, a huge beer tripped out on a shed ton of hops. We took the basis of a brown ale and treated it like a double IPA to create what is fondly known as an “Imperial (over 8% ABV), India (loads of hops) Brown (the style)”. We love malts and the characteristics you can form by plying many of them together. Mould that with extreme hopping and you have a wonderful brew that shows the extremes of how malts and hops dance together and push each other to the max. We added masses of hops and complemented the alpha acids with the smoothness of the malts. We find the dark chocolate characters of the malts blend beautifully with the pine aromas and stiff bitterness from the hops. This is not just another boring brown beer. This is Moose Fang. Beware! Half the batch has been barrelled in fresh Armagnac barrels with vanilla pods, dates and prunes. Watch this space! Moose Fang. AKA Philo McBride. Born September 7th 1988, he was an illustrious child, hard working and diligent. When he was 18 years old all the girls rejected his offer of a prom chaperone on account of his ever so slightly protruding front left (his right) tooth. After a botched bit of dentistry left him with minor pain (about a 1 on the scale) and a split lip he swore to dedicate his life to fighting crime the only way he knew how, turning up after the villain had long fled and reciting his signature catchphrase: “At least I tried ok, where the hell where you huh? Nowhere. Get off my back. You’re not my real Dad.” In the shadows of the burger truck on 5th hides… MOOSE FANG.
