Creative Digital Beer Displays

Last updated November 30, 2021 · By Dylan Blake

Businesses that sell craft beer resist replacing their chalkboards with digital signage for two main reasons:

  • TVs clash with the aesthetic of a place.
  • On-screen designs they've seen look tacky.

Here's an example of a creative setup that looks great and was inexpensive to setup.

The Pony Bar, one of the best beer bars in NYC, was struggling to keep up with updating a chalkboard.

To make it easier to update, they decided replace their chalkboards with digital displays. When they first set it up, they just mounted TVs on the wall and customers quickly objected to the aesthetic asking for the chalkboards back.

In order to improve the look of the TV displays and make them blend in with the bar more, the owners decided to build a wood frame to hide the TV paneling.

This new digital setup with wood-framed TVs accomplished both goals of being easy to regularly update, and blending with the aesthetic of the bar.

    TV Frames

TV frames are a creative way to get the convenience of digital displays without disrupting the look and feel of a bar or restaurant with TVs.

Here are some of the best options for framing a flat screen TV. Whether you're going to make one yourself or place an order on Etsy, all of these include lots of customization options and can be fitted to any TV size.

All Things Thrifty has put together instructions for building a flat screen frame for approximately $25.
