What is Untappd for Business?

Untappd for Business is a subscription service that launched in 2016 after Next Glass acquired the beer social network app Untappd, which was founded by Greg Avola and Tim Mather (both of whom are no longer involved with day-to-day operations).

Businesses that pay for the subscription are marked as "verified" on the Untappd app, can list beer menus and events on Untappd, and have access to digital menu boards, printable menus, QR code menus, website menu, and Facebook and Twitter integrations.

Does Untappd for Business offer a free trial or free plan?

There's no free plan for Untappd for Business, but you can get a free 7-day trial with specific terms.

Breweries can manage their beer information (e.g. name, description, ABV) for free on Untappd.

Does Untappd for Business offer an option for QR code menus?

Yes.

With Untappd for Business's QR Code Menus, you can set it up so that customers get directed to a.) your public-facing Untappd page, which requires an extra click and includes third party ads if your customer isn't signed into their account on untappd.com or in the Untappd app; b.) a PDF of your Untappd print menu (meaning customers would have to pinch to zoom); or c.) an external place like your website.

What does Untappd for Business cost?

Untappd does not list its prices publicly on its website or in its help docs. You can figure out pricing by talking to other businesses and asking what they paid.

The list price had been $599 per year, but in Winter 2021 Untappd increased its price to $899 (a 50% price increase).

Now, in Spring 2023, they unveiled their new two tier pricing structure comprised of Untappd for Business Essentials ($899/year or $89.99/month) and Untappd for Business Premium ($1199/year or $119.99/month).

There are four differences between the two plans:

  • Non-beer items are capped at 20 with Untappd for Business Essentials, they're unlimited with Untappd for Business Premium.
  • User accounts are capped at 5 with Untappd for Business Essentials, they're unlimited with Untappd for Business Premium.
  • Untappd for Business Premium accounts get access to Untappd's API.
  • Untappd for Business Premium accounts get access to a wine and spirit database from Wine-Searcher. We have not yet heard independent reviews of the database from Untappd for Business customers.

Venues are considered "Verified" on Untappd if they pay for Untappd for Business. There is no free way to be a Verified Venue.

How can I cancel an Untappd for Business subscription?

If you would like to cancel your subscription, their help doc instructs you to review their SaaS agreement and then send an email to engage@untappd.com.
