Located in the northern Detroit suburb of Warren, Dragonmead Microbrewery was established in 1997 with a goal to be a variety production brewery. Dragonmead brews from over 80 recipes and has 45 taps to serve its customers. They began with a small three-barrel brewing system but recently added a larger 20-barrel system to keep up with demand. In bottles there are six main products offered year-round as well as four seasonal offerings available throughout Michigan. They also produce a variety of award-winning meads. House-made wine and soda pop are also available in the pub. Dragonmead boasts five International World Beer Cup medals as well as numerous in-state awards. All of the beers are produced with ingredients imported from the country that originated the specific style such as Belgium, Germany, England and the Americas. Together with a focus on quality brewing methods, they strive to create the most authentic tasting example of the brewing style. The pub is open seven days a week and tours are subject to availability. Dragonmead offers up an impressive list of weekly changing beers in their taproom, along with a dozen meads, a few wines and house-made sodas.
