Like so many New Orleanians, Dixie Beer was pushed out of its hometown by Hurricane Katrina floodwaters. Now, more than a decade later, Tom and Gayle Benson have purchased the company with plans to bring Dixie Beer back home and back to a high standard of quality.
Dixie Lager, brewed according to its original 1907 recipe, is now available across metro New Orleans, along with Dixie Light and Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager. Meanwhile, the search for the Orleans Parish site of the new Dixie Brewery is under way.
